ADPI has been entrusted with a specific safety study for the admissibility of aircraft on secondary runway 11/29.

Context

Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, as part of a major multi-year program (2007-2011), has decided to review its aeronautical infrastructure and in particular the repair of the main runway 05/23 during the summer of 2011.

For the duration of this work (8 calendar weeks), the large carriers usually accommodated on main runway 05/23 used runway 11/29.

Our solution

The safety study carried out by ADPI included two aspects: lift of the runway and geometry of the runway, based on the following aspects:

  • an analysis, for each of the devices considered, of the reception capacity in the ACN / PCN sense of runway 11/29, with its suggestions in terms of risk mitigation measures,
  • an analysis of the carrying capacity of the associated routes (Golf, Sierra 4 and Fox), with its suggestions in terms of risk mitigation measures,
  • an analysis of the possibility of turning to racket 11, with its suggestions in terms of risk mitigation measures.
