Added value

King Hussain International Airport is located at the northern tip of the Gulf of Aqaba and approximately 4 hours drive from the capital of Jordan, Amman. Groupe ADP is operating and developing Queen Alia International Airport in Amman, through Airport International Group (AIG) in which it holds a 51% stake alongside builders and investment funds.

In addition, ADP Ingénierie (ADPI) has been awarded a great number of contracts of BHS upgrading: not only to support Paris-Airports (Charles de Gaulle notably) but also mega, regional and small airports in different countries in the world.

Context

King Hussain International Airport, Aqaba, Jordan has recently started to receive LCC flights from Europe. This region is an ideal location for tourists to visit the famous sites of Wadi Rum and Petra. As well as the domestic flights by Royal Jordanian Airlines the airport has recently  added flights from Europe, Russia and Turkey. In order to comply with European security regulations, additional security screening of passenger baggage is required.

Our solution

ADP Ingénierie, together with its local partner, has been awarded the contract to upgrade the Baggage Handling System (BHS) including the introduction of security screening facilities meeting European requirements. The systems will include the introduction of a SCADA system, CUTE/CUPPS, baggage reconciliation system for departing baggage and improvements to the arriving baggage system. Modifications to the terminal will be undertaken to accommodate the upgraded baggage handling system.
