Masterplan of International Airport of Macau
The purpose of this airport master plan was to outline a direction for the next 20 years. ADP Ingénierie (ADPI) undertook a complete range of master planning services for this project: Inventory of existing conditions, traffic forecasts, demand capacity analysis, airport development alternatives, aircraft and vehicle simulation, airspace analysis, airport development plan, land-use compatibility plan, implementation plan, financial plan.
The airport master plan was completed in 1994. Since that time, the traffic volume of the airport had nearly reached the near to mid-term saturation levels. Thus, the Civil Aviation Authority of Macao (CAAM) commissioned ADP Ingénierie for the provision of services on establishing the airport master plan 2030 for the Macau International Airport (MIA).
The project took into account the unprecedented traffic growth observed in the past years before 2011 (8.5% per year for the Pearl River Delta airports), and the coming challenges such as:
- The increasing direct air services between Chinese Taipei and Mainland China,
- The interaction with Guangzhou and Zhuhai airports,
- The development of Low-Cost Carriers (LCC).
