Grand Opening for the Muscat International Airport

Gratien Maire and ADP Ingénierie Oman Team attended the official opening of the Muscat International Airport that happened on November 10th, 2018. His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, sponsored the event which was organized by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Since 2006, ADP Ingénierie acted as Project Management Consultant in charge of developing the international airport of Muscat. This project consisted in the new 20 MAP Passenger Terminal Building plus a separate Cargo Terminal with an initial capacity of 350,000 tons per year that includes a live animal facility. This mission was ordered by Oman ministry of Transports and Communications.

His Highness Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, said that Muscat International Airport is one of the most important achievements witnessed by the Sultanate and represents the Sultanate’s wider opening to the world.
“The opening of Muscat International Airport, as well as other ports and roads improve the infrastructure and help in attracting more investments to the Sultanate. They also contribute to achieving many cultural, social and developmental aims of interest for the Omani citizen, he further said.
Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications said that Muscat International Airport has become an ideal airport as per the international civil aviation standards; thanks to the resources allocated which made it very important for the growth of tourism, economy and investment activities in the Sultanate.

These eagerly awaited developments are the latest major achievements for the Sultanate of Oman that provide Muscat airport with state-of-the-art aviation facilities. In late 2014 a new second runway and new ATC Tower and navigational facilities went into operation in Muscat and in addition the new Salalah Airport opened in mid-2015. Three regional airports within Oman are also under development and at varying stages of completion.

The event included a performance titled’ Oman the Gate of the World’ which reviewed the Sultanate’s strategic location, as well as its historic, archeological and tourist attractions at the various regions of the Sultanate.
